It is situated in the middle of Sunamganj township on the bank of the river where Prassana had his house which was absorbed by the Surma.
The market town lies on the banks of the rivers, Dahuka and Surma and it is situated in a strategically important area for development as it is lies on the junction of 2 major roads leading to towns of, Sylhet, Sunamganj and Chhatak.
The organic village lies on both sides of the River Dahuka, which is a tributary of the River Surma.
There are also traditional sports events, such as stick fighting which is popular amongst the Surma and Nyangatom people.
Down to Chandpur, Meghna is hydrographically referred to as the Upper Meghna.

When the Padma joins with the Jamuna River, the largest distributary of the Brahmaputra, and they join with the Meghna in Chandpur District, the result is the Lower Meghna.

After Chandpur, with the combined flow of the Padma and Jamuna, it moves down to the Bay of Bengal in an almost straight line.

Near Bhola, just before flowing into the Bay of Bengal, the river divides into two main streams in the Ganges delta and separates an island from both sides of the mainland.

When the Surma and the Kushiyara finally rejoin in Kishoreganj District above Bhairab Bazar, the river is known as the Meghna River.

Situated two kilometres inside the International Border across the River Surma, Atgram served as a major road communication centre at the eastern edge of Sylhet Division of East Pakistan, connecting it with Zakiganj to the south opposite the Indian Border town of Karimganj.
