Winkle Street was originally named Barrington Row, presumably after longtime residents of Swainston, the Barrington family.
He signed its charter at his ecclestical estate at Swainston Manor in 1256.
He also wrote "In the Garden at Swainston" after the death of his friend and Swainston's owner, Sir John Simeon.
