Its current Member of Provincial Parliament is Sylvia Jones, former assistant to Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario leader, John Tory.
She was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2007 provincial election, representing the riding of Dufferin—Caledon.

After her 2007 election, Jones served as PC Critic for the Ministry of Community and Social Services, and in 2009, PC Leader Tim Hudak gave Jones the added responsibility of Critic for the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

In March 2010 Sylvia Jones, headteacher at Valentines High School in Ilford, Essex, was appointed as the first Principal of the Academy, and Professor David Price, Vice-Provost (Research) of UCL, as Chair of the Academy Governing Body.
