Emin was a translator of note in Eastern Europe: he is especially admired for his translations of Polish poets ranging from Adam Mickiewicz to the contemporary poet Tadeusz Różewicz.
His first role in the theatre was in Tadeusz Różewicz' White Wedding, and he soon received roles in local productions of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's White Nights and William Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, among others.
In the following years, he translated, so to speak in his free time, such well-known Polish writers as Zbigniew Herbert, Stanisław Jerzy Lec, Czesław Miłosz, Tadeusz Różewicz and Wisława Szymborska.
