In 1978, after the death of Syenda Taher Saifuddin, his heir Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, in the memory of his fathers' visits, changed the name from "Lakshmigiri" to "Saifee Villa" (where the word "Saifee" is derived from the name Saifuddin).

During the era of Syenda Taher Saifuddin, as a child, Syedi Mufaddal Saifuddin (the successor to the office of Da'i al-Mutlaq of the Dawoodi Bohras after Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin), began the recitation of the Quran in Saifee Villa.

They were honoured to house the Head of the Community; His Holiness Syenda Taher Saifuddin on all of his five visits to Sri Lanka.
He contributed to the development of many monuments, chief of them being the internal curtains of the Ka‘bah and the zarih of Maulana ‘Alī and Imam Husain.

During the period of 51st Dai Syedna Taher Saifuddin (A.Q) (1915-1965 AD), the Dawoodi Bohra Dawat shifted to Mumbai and continues there to the present day, currently headed by 53rd Dai al Mutlaq Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.
As a child, during the era of Syenda Taher Saifuddin, he began the recitation of the Quran in Saifee Villa; Colombo, Sri Lanka.
