Robert Widdowfield, one of the two victims of George Parrott's gang, was born on February 15, 1846, at Cook Bank, Tanfield, County Durham, England.

In 2007, a collaboration with the Tanfield Group of the UK saw the introduction of an "electric AVIA", with AALM providing chassis cabs less engines, gearboxes and other diesel truck components to Tanfield subsidiary Smith Electric Vehicles for inclusion in the Smith's Newton all electric truck.
