Abies numidica

Abies numidica (Algerian Fir) is a species of fir, found only in Algeria, where it is endemic on Djebel Babor, the second-highest mountain (2,004 m) in the Algerian Tell Atlas.

Atlas Cedar

Cedrus atlantica, the Atlas Cedar, is a cedar native to the Atlas Mountains of Algeria (Tell Atlas, Saharan Atlas) and Morocco (in the Rif and Middle Atlas, and locally in the High Atlas).

Tell Atlas

As a consequence, the northern slopes of the Tell Atlas are forested with the endemic Abies numidica, and Atlas Cedar, pine, and cork oak.


Chréa National Park

The park, located in a mountainous area known as the Blidean Atlas (which is part of the Tell Atlas) includes the ski station of Chréa, one of the few ski stations in Africa where skiing can be done on natural snow, and the grotto of Chiffa.
