Emmy-nominated Donald Voorhees, noted conductor of the The Bell Telephone Hour and Cavalcade of America radio and television show orchestras, served as the music director of the Allentown Symphony for over thirty years (1951 to 1983).
As a child of twelve, he became interested in listening to the Saturday Met broadcasts and also heard and saw many singers of the day on The Voice of Firestone, and The Bell Telephone Hour.
Daum also made appearances with the Chicago Opera Company during her career and was highly active as a performer on various American radio programs, such as The American Album of Familiar Music and The Bell Telephone Hour, during the 1930s through the 1950s.
