In 1952, he became the first Native American child to appear in a motion picture in the role of "Comes Running", an Indian boy adopted by a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, in the film Pony Soldier, starring Tyrone Power and Cameron Mitchell, who later appeared as a co-star of NBC's The High Chaparral.
The series, made by Xanadu Productions in association with NBC Productions, was created by David Dortort, who had previously created the hit Bonanza for the network.

There is a small but nationally renowned amusement park called High Chaparral Theme Park (named after the American Western-themed TV series aired on NBC) offering, among others, the steam train rides and the American Old West experiences.
In 1966, at the age of twenty-seven, he obtained one of his most memorable parts, as Billy Blue Cannon, the blond-haired, blue-eyed son of the ranch patriarch, John Cannon (Leif Erickson) on The High Chaparral, set in the Arizona Territory.
