In addition to his concert works, King has composed music for various films, including Shrek, Chicken Run, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and television programmes, including the FIFA World Cup 2002, The Last Detective, Second Nature and William and Mary.
He has appeared in many film and television roles such as, K-19: The Widowmaker, Nine Lives, Thunderbirds, Breakfast on Pluto, Flyboys, Ministry of Mayhem and The Last Detective.
He has appeared in many television soaps and dramas including; Brookside as Roger Huntington (the husband of Heather Huntingdon played by Amanda Burton), A Touch of Frost, Soldier Soldier (on which he had a major role as Company Sergeant Major Michael Stubbs) and most recently in all 17 episodes of The Last Detective as Detective Inspector Aspinall.
His television appearances include Consenting Adults, two episodes of Doctor Who ("Human Nature"/"The Family of Blood"), The Brittas Empire, Green Wing, Silk, The Government Inspector (as John Scarlett), The Last Detective and DI Torrens for a few episodes in The Bill in 2001.
