Jena had entered the Indian Film Industry in the 1980s, when Industry was going through a transition and the New Wave Cinema or Serious Cinema (or Art Cinema) which had flourished through the 50s and 60s (under the aegis of Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen and Shyam Benegal) was floundering and dying in the 80s.

Under Influence

Zones was the New Wave band formed by Alex Harvey's cousin Willie Gardner (lead vocals, guitar), and ex-Slik (1974–1977) and PVC2 (early to September 1977) members, Kenny Hyslop (drums), Billy McIsaac (keyboards) and Russell Webb (bass), in 1977, after the latter three's bandmate, Midge Ure, departed to join The Rich Kids.

Whammy!

The B-52's' goal was to craft an album that would return to the New Wave sound and atmosphere of their debut album while updating their signature sound with drum machines and synthesizers, a slight contrast to their previous 1982 EP Mesopotamia, produced by David Byrne of Talking Heads who was intent on broadening the band's sound.
