Tim Levy began his career in the field of 3D technology, design and strategy, and in 1996 started his own technological marketing company for clients including Roland DG, Sony, and IBM.

The Sydney competition was put together by Levy after several attendances as an Australian ambassador at Southern California's Solar Cup, the largest solar boat competition in the United States.
