The Minister for Environment Tony Burke has stipulated the project must adhere to 19 conditions aimed at protecting the Great Barrier Reef.
It was officially launched at the Sydney Opera House on 31 August 2009 by former Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
Whilst in opposition, Burke led an unsuccessful bipartisan appeal for clemency to the Singapore High Commissioner to stop the execution of convicted Australian drug smuggler, Van Tuong Nguyen.
