Unfortunately the GT-One was suffering from failures of its Michelin tires throughout the race, mostly caused by sharp gravel which had been accidentally brought onto the racing surface by other cars.

In the meantime, they entered sports car racing and the 24 Hours of Le Mans: in 1998 and 1999, finishing 2nd in 1999 with the Toyota GT-One.
