Due to the inter-communal conflict between the Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots at the time, the club did not register to play in the Cypriot First Division and only participated in some friendly matches.
Lefkoşa Türk Spor Kulübü was founded in 1930, and was one of the founding members of the Cypriot First Division in 1934, the sole Turkish Cypriot team in the league (with 7 Greek Cypriot teams: AEL Limassol, Trast AC, Olympiakos Nicosia, Aris Limassol, APOEL, Anorthosis Famagusta, and EPA Larnaca).
The Turkish Cypriots established an independent government for what they called the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus (TFSC), with Rauf Denktaş as president.
The group also campaigns for 1964 to be recognised as the start of the embargoes, this being the year of the breakdown of the power sharing between Greek and Turkish Cypriots (see Cyprus dispute).
PEKA, "Politiki Epitropi Kypriakou Agona" (The Political Committee of the Cypriot Struggle), was the political wing of the EOKA movement which fought against the British and Turkish Cypriots for the union of Cyprus with Greece between 1955 and 1959.
