3 unusual facts about Ulrich Rückriem


Ulrich Rückriem

In the 1960s and 1070s, Rückriem worked in the quarry of Dolomite at Anröchte, culminating in a show of his work at the Venice Biennale in 1978.

Born in Düsseldorf, Rückriem spent his years of apprenticeship as a stonecutter in Düren, followed by employment as a journeyman at the Dombauhütte workshops of Cologne Cathedral.

Later on, due to his tight association with Gallery Konrad Fischer, Düsseldorf, he got in contact with artists and colleagues like Carl Andre, Richard Long, Sol LeWitt y Royden Rabinovich.
