His son Raymond was also responsible in 1982 for the design of the new "family enclosure" at Vicarage Road after winning a club competition resulting in—amongst other things—his family being invited into the Chairmans' Lounge to have lunch with the then chairman Elton John.
After missing the first three games of the following season, Bunce scored his first career hat-trick, in a 6–1 win over Brentford at Vicarage Road on 30 August 1960.
