Victory Gardens Theater

In 1997, resident playwrights Steve Carter and James Sherman were joined by Claudia Allen, Dean Corrin, Lonnie Carter, Gloria Bond Clunie, John Logan, Nicholas Patricca, Douglas Post, Charles Smith, Jeffrey Sweet and Kristine Thatcher as the founding members of the company’s Playwrights Ensemble.

Key on-going collaborators worked with the company for the first time in the Clark Street space, including actor William L. Petersen, Marcelle McVay, director Sandy Shinner, and playwrights Steve Carter and Jeffrey Sweet.


Eddie Jemison

His stage credits include The Wizards of Quiz at the National Jewish Theatre; Only Kidding at the Wisdom Bridge Theatre; Loot at Tulane Repertory; A Christmas Carol at the Goodman Theatre; Talking to Myself and Holiday Memories at the Northlight Theatre; and T Bone N Weasel at Victory Gardens.

Lusia Strus

She has played for the Chicago Steppenwolf, Goodman, and Victory Gardens theaters as well as for the Curious Theatre Company, the Northlight Repertory, and others, and has also worked for Yoplait, WBEZ, and the Chicago Jazz Festival.

Morgan Jenness

She has worked with the Young Playwrights Festival, the Mark Taper Forum, The Playwrights Center/Playlabs, The Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Double Image/New York Stage and Film, CSC, Victory Gardens, Hartford Stage, and Center Stage as a dramaturg, workshop director, and/or artistic consultant.
