The Wind Tunnel has hosted events including the biannual Art Center Design Conference, like 2008's "Serious Play"; an annual Summit on Sustainable Mobility, and "Stories from the Source: Radical Craft"; large exhibitions such as "Supersonic: 1 Wind Tunnel, 8 Schools, 120 Artists", "Gardenlab", and "Open House: Architecture and Technology for Intelligent Living" (with Vitra Design Museum); and various community meetings and events.

In 2002 the Vitra Design Museum organized Ingo Maurer - Light - Reaching for the Moon, a travelling exhibition with several shows in Europe and in Japan.
She states "In France, I went to the Domaine de Boisbuchet for a course in Exhibition Design conducted by the Vitra Design Museum and Centre Georges Pompidou, which I recommend to anybody even remotely interested in heightening their creative senses because both the location and course structure is highly conducive to conceptualizing and exploring new ideas."
It featured in the 2004 Museum of Modern Art New York exhibition Humble Masterpieces and in the 2011 London Science Museum/Vitra Design Museum exhibition Hidden Heroes - The Genius of Everyday Things.

In 2009 among other activities he organized and curated The Third International Festival of Illustration (Moscow), created performance SunPool for Willem de Kooning Foundation (USA), did a workshop at an international summer academy at Domaine de Boisbuchet (Centre Georges Pompidou, the Centre International de Recherche et d´Education Culturelle et Agricole (CIRECA), and Vitra Design Museum, France) and workshop at Theatrical Academy in Norway.
The gallery distributes the work of designers and architects Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, Jean Royère, and is often called on to contribute to exhibitions in such museums as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil-am-Rhein, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs of Paris.
Hutten's work is part of the permanent collections of the Centraal Museum Utrecht, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
