On January 12, 2008, Bachinsky was killed in a road traffic accident when he violated the traffic code by driving his Volkswagen Golf in the opposite lane.

Waldherr also proved his skills in closed-course racing: In 2006 he took third place in the 24 Hours of Dubai and in 2011 he achieved the highest score for diesel-powered vehicles in a Golf TDI.
There have been many complaints about this new system as several slower cars have been banned, such as the Peugeot 308, but faster cars such as VW Golf R32 and BMW 130i are still permitted.
