It follows the same notes as the folk song Wabash Cannonball by The Carter Family, but its lyrics eulogise trucks and truckers rather than trains.
The only piece of music to survive the fire was the Wabash Cannonball, which became one of K-State's main fight songs.
For many years the famous Wabash Cannonball ran on the line (then owned by the Wabash Railway), passing through town twice a day on its route from St. Louis to Detroit and back.
