Bayless W. Hanna

He lost to fellow Wabash alum and Crawfordsville lawyer Robert B. F. Peirce having only earned 43% of the vote to Peirce's 49%.

James Hanna's move was also prompted by his desire to assist with the founding of Wabash College.

Oscar T. Bassett

Charles Nebeker Bassett (October 8, 1880 – June 10, 1944), son of pioneer O.T. Bassett was born in Indiana, and educated in the schools of Indiana, graduating from Wabash College with the class of 1900.

Speed S. Fry

He graduated from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in 1840 and returned to Danville to practice law under his uncle.


Amos Lawrence

To Williams College, he gave nearly $40,000; to Groton Academy, which later changed its name to Lawrence Academy to honor both Amos and his brother, William Lawrence, he gave over $20,000; to Wabash College, Kenyon College, and the theological seminary at Bangor, Maine, he also gave sizable sums.
