Frank Melville Memorial Park

It was dedicated in 1937 to the memory of Frank Melville Jr., father of local philanthropist Ward Melville.

A stable was added around 1937 and the structure was re-sided and re-roofed in 1968 under the direction of Ward Melville.

Thom McAn

Ward Melville, chairman of the Melville Corporation, introduced the new Thom McAn shoe line in 1922, opening the first Thom McAn retail store in New York.

Ward Melville

Melville died in 1977 and is buried in Setauket at the Caroline Church and Cemetery.


Saint Andrew's Society

Past presidents of the venerable society include Philip Livingston, William Alexander (the "Earl of Stirling"), Andrew Carnegie and Ward Melville.
