The parish of Whitton is bordered by Ipswich to the south, the parish of Westerfield to the east, the parishes of Akenham (now part of the enlarged parish of Whitton with Thurleston and Akenham) and Claydon to the north and Bramford to the west.
David Westerfield of California was convicted in 2002 of possessing child pornography, despite contrary opinion by some members of law enforcement: an Assistant U.S. Attorney concluded that the photographs shown to her did not meet the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal standard for lascivious conduct; and Detective Chris Armstrong declared that Westerfield’s images were not child porn.
When the trial was over, the media, quoting unnamed police sources, reported that Westerfield's lawyers were just minutes away from negotiating a plea bargain when a private citizen's group, started by the Laura Recovery Center and concerned local citizens, found Danielle's body.
He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Katherine Halloran of Lexington, and Carolyn Westerfield of Hamden; five grandchildren (including Peter Halloran); and five great-granddaughters.
