Mark Rohan from Ballinahown, a former Under 21 footballer with Westmeath until a car accident, won a gold medal in the 2012 Summer Paralympics on 5 September 2012 in the individual H1 time trial.
He is the son of Séamus Qualter, former manager of both the Westmeath and Roscommon senior hurling teams, and the grandson of P. J. Qualter, a hurling star with Galway in the 1960s and 1970s.
