Herstal Group

Herstal Group is the parent company of small-arms brands manufacturing companies FN Herstal, U.S. Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) and Browning Arms Company.

Winchester Repeating Arms Company

The Winchester and Keen Kutter brands did business together during the 1920s but in 1929 they agreed to separate and returned to their core business.

The first was an experimental indoor shooting range called Wingo in San Diego, California.

The production of Model 1885 falling block action, Model 1892 and Model 1886 lever action rifles are produced under licensed agreement by Miroku Corp. of Japan and imported back to United States by Browning.

The original round that passed the testing fired a 200 grain (13 g) bullet at 900 ft/s (275 m/s), but after a number of rounds of revisions between Winchester Repeating Arms, Frankford Arsenal, and Union Metallic Cartridge, it ended up using a 230 grain (15 g) bullet fired at about 850 ft/s (260 m/s).

New Haven Museum and Historical Society
