In the first book of the series (chronologically), The Curse of the Gloamglozer, Linius is the Most High Academe of Sanctaphrax and father of one of the stories protagonists, Maris and a friend of the sky pirate Wind Jackal.
During the book Clash of the Sky Galleons, almost all of Wind Jackal's crewmembers die, until only he, Quint, Tem Barkwater, Maris Pallitax and Spillins remain of the original crew.

In the next book, The Curse of the Gloamglozer, Wind Jackal leaves Quint on the floating city of Sanctaphrax, to assist his old friend Linius Pallitax.

From this point on, Linius enlists the help of Wind Jackal's son Quint to take him to the rock entrance and do other tasks for him.
He manages to find his way on board the Galerider, its crew reduced to two occupants: Wind Jackal's son, Quint, and the Banderbear, Hubble.
