Ahasuerus

The name Ahasuerus is equivalent to the Greek name Xerxes, both deriving from the Old Persian language Xšayārša.

Tithorea

The ancient city was built after the destruction of the nearby cities by Xerxes' Persian army in 480 BC.


Ampelakia

It was at Ampelakia Bay where the famous Battle of Salamis occurred in 480 BC, during which the Greek ships defeated the Persian fleet of Xerxes.
