Zhili–Anhui War

In April 1920, while visiting a memorial service at Baoding for soldiers who died in Hunan, one-time presidential-candidate Cao Kun added more warlords to the anti-Anhui clique alliance, including the rulers of Hubei, Henan, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Zhili.

He then led a raiding force into northern China, advancing into Zhili, Shandong and Jiangsu from 1642 to 1643.

Bayantömöriin Khaisan

When the Chinese secret society named Jindandao attacked the banner in 1891, he guided the government forces dispatched from Zhili province to suppress the rebels.

Huang Yupian

A native of Gansu province, he served as the magistrate of Qinghe (清河) county in Zhili (直隸) province, present day Hebei, from 1830.

Ming Emperor K'ang-hi, who wished to take measures against the periodic overflow of the rivers of Zhili, was satisfied.

Ji Xiaolan Residence

A horizontal inscribed board reading "Yuewei Cottage" was hung over the door of the north room in the original east courtyard of Yuewei Cottage, but later it was taken away by people working in Zhili Guild Hall.

Li Hongzhang

He quelled several major rebellions and served in important positions of the Imperial Court, including the premier viceroyalty of Zhili.

Ma Fuxing

In 1924 Yang intercepted some correspondence between Ma and the Zhili clique and became suspicious.

Ni Daolang

In early 1927, Zhang Zongchang was appointed Vice-Supreme Commander of the Anguojun and was the Supreme Commander of the Zhili-Shandong (Zhi-Lu) United Army.

One vote was given to each of the seventeen provinces presented in the assembly including Zhili, Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, and Anhui.

Sumxu

In volume 4 of his Histoire Naturelle (c. 1767), Georges Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, mentioned the pendulous-eared cats of Pe-chi-ly in China and he was unsure whether the black or yellow sumxu was a cat or some other domesticated animal used to control rats.

Taiping Prefecture

During the Ming Dynasty the prefecture was classified as part of Southern Zhili and later came under the administration of Anhui Province during the Qing Dynasty.

Tang Gao

As the Number One Scholar(狀元) in the ninth year (1514) of Zhengde Emperor(正德皇帝) in Ming Dynasty, Tang Gao (唐皋,1469-1526), styled himself as Shouzhi(守之), Xin’an(心庵), and Ziyang hermit(紫陽山人), was born in Yansi town(巖寺鎮), She county(歙縣), Huizhou(徽州府), South Zhili(南直隸).

Tiantai

The school is largely based on the teachings of Zhiyi, Zhanran, and Zhili, who lived between the 6th and 11th centuries in China.

Wang Xugao

He graduated Beiyang Police High School, after that successively held governors of several counties in Zhili.

Zhang Shaozeng

He was born in Zhili province and graduated from a Japanese military academy in 1901.
