Aurach has a wildlife park, situated at a height of 1,100 metres, which is home to typical Alpine animals such as Red Deer, Ibex, Mouflon, Wild Boar and Lynx, as well as animals from other mountainous regions, including Fallow Deer, Sika Deer, Llama and Yak.
The Putteridge estate is a mixture of arable farmland and woodland; as well as the occasional visiting muntjac and fallow deer, the estate is home to Lady Amherst's Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae) as well as the more common pheasant.
The resident animal population still includes exotic animals such as Mouflon sheep from Corsica, fallow deer from Europe, and Sika deer from Asia.
