Upon completion of the bridge, the entire falsework structure and all exposed underwater supports will be removed to make a safe channel for deep draft ships transiting to and from the Port of Oakland.
The falsework, which had already been used in the construction of the Halen Bridge in Kirchlindach, Bern, originated, as with the Langwieser Viaduct, from Richard Coray of Trin.
A total of 800 cubic metres of wood was used for the falsework, the construction of which was another impressive achievement of the carpenter Richard Coray of Trin.
