The theme of this Summit was to promote agricultural activities and attract investment in agriculture and allied sectors like Animal Husbandry, Apiculture, Dairy, Sericulture, Fisheries, Floriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing in the state of Karnataka.
Carl H. Fischer (May 22, 1907 – November 23, 2005) was a floriculturalist in the United States known for creating many new varieties of gladiolus flowers.
Floriculture is a growth sector, and agricultural non-traditional exports now rival the mining industry in foreign exchange receipts.
At present, there are no longer any oranges produced and the horticultural crops have also disappeared, in benefit of the floriculture (especially carnations and roses).
The de Graaff brothers (De Gebroeders de Graaff, Gebr. de Graaff) were a Dutch horticultural family company based in Lisse, Netherlands, in an area known as Duin- en Bollenstreek (Dune and Bulb Region), the centre of the Dutch bulb and floriculture industry.
