unusual facts about nuthatch

Pinus brutia

The Krüper's Nuthatch, a rare nuthatch, is largely restricted to forests of Turkish pine and depends heavily on it for feeding; the ranges of the two species are largely coincident.

Pygmy Nuthatch

The Pygmy Nuthatch features prominently in the climax of the 2000 film Charlie's Angels, in which Cameron Diaz's character, Natalie, discovers the location of the villains' fortress by identifying the call of the Pygmy Nuthatch, which she says only live in Carmel, California—though the bird shown is not a Pygmy Nuthatch, which in any case is found in a much wider range.

Red-breasted Nuthatch

In the past, the Red-breasted Nuthatch and four other species — the Corsican Nuthatch, the Chinese Nuthatch, the Algerian Nuthatch and the Krüper's Nuthatch — were thought to be a single species.

Wellesley, Ontario

To the south, the tall hills beyond the river plain shelters a large gravel pit and in the skies over the hills, the river, the village and the woods, are sure to be found the beautiful Red-tailed Hawk and the common sightings of Cardinals, Blue Jays, Robins, Chickadees, Nuthatch, and numerous Song Sparrow.
