Two short sections of the street are pedestrianised, which together with a pedestrian-priority crossing of Cannon Street, forms a "Central Plaza" area.

Cornmarket Street (often called just Cornmarket by Oxonians) is a major shopping street and pedestrian precinct in Oxford, England that runs north-south between Carfax Tower and Magdalen Street.
The Western section towards Königsallee is a pedestrian zone and has some landmark buildings, such as the Schadow Arkaden, a shopping mall designed by German architect Walter Brune in 1994, and the Peek & Cloppenburg flagship store, designed by American architect Richard Meier in 2001.
It starts from Amalias Avenue near the Arch of Hadrian and ends near Philopappos Hill where it meets Apostolou Pavlou Street, the continuation of the pedestrian zone around the archaeological site of the Acropolis and the Agora.
