The Eroica Trio is an American piano trio consisting of Erika Nickrenz, piano; Sara Parkins, violin; and Sara Sant'Ambrogio, cello.
There was so much recorded and live chamber music in his home that by the time Joel was twelve years old, he had played most of the Classical and Romantic piano trio literature with his mother and (now professional) violinist brother, Aaron.
According to the notes for the Composers Recordings, Inc. recording of Finney's second cello sonata (about 1953), Chromatic Fantasy In E for Violoncello Solo (1957) and second piano trio (1954), he received the Rome Prize in 1960 and the Brandeis Medal in 1968.
Current collaborations include flautist Abbie de Quant (since 1970), Duo 4 with pianist Meir Wiesel, the Tamar Piano Trio with violinist Itzhak Segev and cellist Louis Rowen, as well as ensembles with several vocalists among whom Bat-Sheva Zeisler.
The trio was first performed in the United Kingdom at the New Recital Room of the University of Cambridge on 19 February 2008 by the Waterhouse Piano Trio, Irina Puryshinskaja (piano), Boris Kucharsky (violin) and the composer (cello), together with works of Mozart, Schubert and Hugh Wood's piano trio, op. 24 (1982–84).
That year he played the piano in the first Boston performance of Beethoven's Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 1, No. 3, with the Mendelssohn Quintette Club.
In February 2006, after winning the $10,000 Robert Helps Prize with My fleeting Angel (for piano trio), Frances-Hoad became Composer-in-Residence at the University of South Florida for a week, where she gave a two-hour lecture about her work, and a masterclass for both undergraduate and postgraduate composition students.
On Tuesday, May 23, 1989, New York Times music critic Allan Kozinn wrote about the Trio in a concert of the complete chamber music of Maurice Ravel, presented at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Sunday, May 21, 1989: "The outstanding performances of the afternoon included a lush, resilient rendering of the Quartet . . . as well as a fevered, emphatically arching account of the Piano Trio, by the Oberlin Trio (Joseph Schwartz, piano, Andor Toth Jr., cellist, and Mr. Clapp)."

The JazzTimes review by Thomas Conrad said "Songways is one of the prettiest piano trio albums of the new millennium... In jazz, “pretty” is often an adjective that damns with faint praise. Battaglia’s music is pretty but neither shallow nor soft".
Since 2005, the label has gone on to release discs featuring artists such as Dame Felicity Lott, Imogen Cooper, Christine Brewer, Trevor Pinnock, Jonathan Biss, the Gould Piano Trio, the Doric, Arditti and Kopelman string quartets, the Nash Ensemble, the Academy of Ancient Music and the Early Opera Company.
