In certain applications, different waveforms are used, such as triangular or square waves.
White noise is used to simulate percussion instruments and effects, such as explosions, by means of a pseudo-random square wave.
It is analogous to Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM), in which the magnitude of an analog signal is encoded in the duty cycle of a square wave.
Available waveforms include PWM-capable saw and square, saw2 (behaves in a different way than "saw" when used with PWM), a saw/square "mix", additional waves (Inner1-3) for OSC1 in oscillator sync mode, triangle and sine by altering the Edge of pulse waves (or any wave for the sine), and various intermediate waves available through Edge.
Electronic oscillator, an electronic circuit that produces a periodic, oscillating signal, often a sine wave or a square wave
