During his time in Liverpool (1960-1975) he was closely associated with artists including Adrian Henri and Keith Arnatt.
They also took part in "happenings" organised by Liverpool poet Adrian Henri.

By the end of the company’s first year, its list of authors included Robert Bly, Brigid Brophy, Dick Clement and Ian LaFrenais, James Dickey, Adrian Henri, Michael Levey, Edward Lucie-Smith, Roger McGough, Charles Osborne, Brian Patten and Ralph Steadman.
While in Liverpool he exhibited with the Liverpool Academy of Art alongside Sam Walsh, Maurice Cockrill, Adrian Henri, Nicolas Horsfield and Mike Lawson.
