In 1926 he became General Musical Director of the BBC, remaining there until he was succeeded by Adrian Boult in 1930.
In June 1921 he presented, with tenor Vladimir Rosing and conductor Adrian Boult, a season of Opera Intime at London's Aeolian Hall.
