Alexander Home, 3rd Lord Home (died 1516), Scottish soldier and nobleman, Chamberlain of Scotland and March Warden
In the month before the tragedy of Flodden, some Scots, under Alexander Home, 3rd Lord Home, were returning from a raid into England where they had burnt several villages.

Home was one of those who signed the agreement which resulted in the Raid of Ruthven.
In June 1497, with the Earl of Angus, he opened talks for the surrender of Perkin Warbeck at 'Jenyn Haugh'.
Home attacked Dunbar Castle, then captured the Chief Herald, the Lyon King of Arms at Coldstream and held him ransom for his mother who was a prisoner of Albany's lieutenant Antoine d'Arces.

In August 1513 Home led 3000 Borders Horse on a raid into England, en route back to Scotland laden with booty, his force was ambushed by William Bulmer of Brancepeth Castle at Milfield, and was routed losing 1000 men and his standard.

They were arrested and William was imprisoned on the island fortress of Inchgarvie.
Alexander Home was created a Baron in 1473, and the title was raised to an Earldom by James VI in 1605.
Home was born at Dalkeith House, Midlothian (the seat of his maternal grandfather), the son of Alexander Home, 10th Earl of Home, by Lady Elizabeth Scott, daughter of Henry Scott, 3rd Duke of Buccleuch.
