Alpine tundra, a community of plants that live at high altitude
Besides the Mediterranean species, there are also species belonging to Alpine flora and colder temperate regions at high altitudes and in protected valleys.

Its northern slopes are known, due to their inaccessibility, for its alpine flora, particularly the protected edelweiss.
Fan Frynych and Craig Cerrig-gleisiad are protected as a national nature reserve which is owned and managed by the Countryside Council for Wales for its Arctic–alpine flora.
