Antonio Palomino

He studied philosophy, theology and law at Córdoba, and had lessons in painting from Juan de Valdés Leal, who visited there in 1672, and afterwards from Juan de Alfaro y Gamez (1675).

Málaga Cathedral

The Chapel of the Incarnation contains a neoclassic altarpiece (1785) designed by the sculptor Juan de Villanueva and carved by Antonio Ramos and Aldehuela, sculptures of Salazar and Antonio Palomino, and The Beheading of Saint Paul, painted by Enrique Simonet in 1887 during his stay in Rome.


Pedro Atanasio Bocanegra

He was a scholar of Alonso Cano, but, according to Palomino, improved himself in colouring by studying the works of Pedro de Moya and Van Dyck.
