The larvae feed on various herbaceous plants, such as Artemisia vulgaris, Beet, Chenopodium album and Artemisia campestris.
As the name suggests, the larva feeds on the flowers of mugwort (which is sometimes called "Common Wormwood") but will also feed on the flowers of a range of other plants (see list below).

The larvae feed on a wide range of plants, including Quercus robur, Rumex crispus, Silene cucubalus v. litoralis, Angelica archangelica v. litoralis, Veronica longifolia, Galium verum, Valeriana officinalis, Chrysanthemum vulgare, Artemisia vulgaris, Artemisia campestris and Sonchus arvensis.
