Originally produced by and starring Charles Wyndham at the Criterion Theatre, London, in 1907, it was revived in London at the Arts Theatre in 1949, at Liverpool Playhouse in 2006 (although the title was changed to The Lady of Leisure), and at the Finborough Theatre, London, in 2007 and has also been filmed.
Bailey has worked extensively in British theatre, including Chichester, Bristol Old Vic, the West Yorkshire Playhouse, London's West End, the Royal Court, the National Theatre, the Old Vic, the Arts Theatre, Hampstead, the Tricycle Theatre and the company Shared Experience with whom she received a TMA nomination as Best Supporting Performance for her role in Kindertransport (2007).
He made his debut as a director with Jean Genet's Deathwatch at the Arts Theatre in 1960 and in 1961 was awarded an ABC Television traineeship, which took him to Northampton for a year as assistant producer.
Webley also composed numerous other themes for the National Theatre, Arts Theatre, ballet, and radio including Ian McMillan’s East Coast Girls, Emma Clarke's Share and Share Alike, and Neil Mossey’s Stockport So Good They Named It Once.
Also in 1988, she appeared with Tony Musante at the Westside Arts Theatre (in Manhattan) in Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune by Terrence McNally.
A number of notable Australian actors have performed at Brisbane Arts Theatre, including Carol Burns, Michael Caton, Barry Otto, Judith McGrath, Bunny Brooke, Jennifer Flowers, John Stanton and Kate Wilson.
Until 2011 it was used as a training venue for the City of Westminster College's performing arts, theatre lighting, sound engineering and media students, along with regularly visiting students from Ball State University and young people from The Prince's Trust.

Sinan Savaskan was the Music Director and Composer for Oedipus Rex, University of Cambridge’s triennial production performed entirely in classical Greek at Performances at Arts Theatre, Cambridge, 11–16 October 2004; featuring a distinguished production team including Director Annie Castledine and Royal National Theatre’s Designer Stephen Brimson-Lewis.
They also along with Bruce Lacey presented a version of The Three Musketeers at The Arts Theatre and then at The Royal Court, Sloane Square, The Three Musketeers Ride Again which also starred Rachel Roberts as Madame de Winter, Rosa Bosom and Valentine Dial as Cardinal Richelieu, Alex Jawdokimova as Aramis and Sinbad Gray as Pustule and many others.
