Bamboo Annals

It begins at the earliest legendary times (the Yellow Emperor) and extends to 299 BC, with the later centuries focussing on the history of the State of Wei in the Warring States period.

According to Du Yu, who saw the original strips, the text began with the Xia dynasty, and used a series of different pre-Han calendars.

Emperor Ku

In the Bamboo Annals, one of the earliest sources, it is mentioned that when Emperor Zhuanxu died, a descendant of Shennong named Shuqe raised a disturbance, but was destroyed by the prince of Sin, who was Ku (Gaoxin), a descendant of Huangdi, who then ascended to the throne.
