Mahamudu Bawumia (born October 7, 1963, Tamale, Northern region, Ghana), is an economist and banker of international distinction and repute.He was a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana until his nomination as Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in 2008.
After leaving the Bank of Ghana, Paul Acquah joined a new team setup to oversee the restructuring and development of Tema Oil Refinery and Ghana's crude oil supply.
The area was nationalized in a symbolic sense with the siting of the Bank of Ghana, Ministries, Independence Square, and the headquarters of newly established national companies in the district.
