Admiralty M-N Scheme

The Number One tower was soon found an alternative use as a replacement for the Nab Rock lightship, 40 miles away off Bembridge in the Isle of Wight.

Bembridge railway station, which was located in the north-west of the village close to the harbour served the village, with services to Brading, until 1953.

Sir Henry Thompson, 3rd Baronet

Sir Henry was, during his life, Curate in charge at Holy Trinity Church, Bembridge, Isle of Wight; Rector of the Church of Holy Trinity, Fareham, Hampshire (the building of which had been paid for by himself and his mother, Lady Jane Thompson), and in 1845 he was given the living of Frant, Sussex by the Earl of Abergavenny.

Bembridge Beds

The Bembridge Beds are strata forming part of the fluvio-marine series of deposits of Oligocene age, in the Isle of Wight and Hampshire, England.

The Bembridge marls, freshwater, estuarine and marine clays and marls (70–120 ft.) rest upon the Bembridge limestone, a freshwater pool deposit (15–25 ft.), with large land snails (Amphidromus and Helix), freshwater snails (Planorbis, Lymnaea), and the fruits of Chara.

Brading Marshes to St. Helen's Ledges SSSI

It encompasses the Brading Marshes RSPB reserve, Bembridge harbour and the inter tidal sand, mud flats and rocky ledges exposed off the coast at low water, including the land around St Helens Fort which is not attached to the mainland.

Britten-Norman BN-1

In 1951 John Britten and Desmond Norman built and flew an ultra-light monoplane, their first aircraft, which made its first flight at Bembridge, Isle of Wight, on 16 May 1951.

No. 253 Squadron RAF

253 Squadron was formed at Bembridge, on the Isle of Wight, on 7 June 1918, remaining there until disbanded on the 31 May 1919.

RML 9 inch 12 ton gun

In the late 1880s and early 1890s a small number of guns were adapted as high-angle coast defence guns around Britain : known battery locations were Tregantle Down Battery at Plymouth, Verne High Angle Battery at Portland and Steynewood Battery at Bembridge on the Isle of Wight.

TF Carrier

By 1883 Carrier was surplus to requirements at Granton and was sold to the Isle of Wight Railway Co which wished to establish a ferry service between Langstone station on the LB&SCR's Hayling Island Branch and Bembridge on the island.
