Butana and Kenana cattle

The Kenana breed is found just south of Butana, mainly in the region between the Blue Nile and the White Nile.

Cushi

According to Ethiopian historians, the Kushite Empire also controlled the mountainous regions around the source of the Blue Nile at first, and the Cushitic and Agaw peoples of Ethiopia (including the Bete Israel or Ethiopian Jews, who have largely migrated to Israel) still maintain traditions of descent from Cush.

James Wilson Robertson

After Oxford he joined the Sudan Political Service from 1922 to 1953, serving appointments in Blue Nile, White Nile, Fung and Kordofan provinces and was the Civil Secretary from 1945 to 1953.

Malik Agar

In the 1990s, he was the commander of a section of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) military forces along the Sudanese-Ethiopian border south of the Blue Nile to Geissan.

The Dutch explorer Juan Maria Schuver visited Beica during his first explorations between the White and Blue Niles (August 1881).

Butana

It is bordered by the Nile from Khartoum to Atbarah, by the Atbarah River from Atbarah to Ethiopia, by the Ethiopian border from the Atbarah River to the Blue Nile, and by the Blue Nile from Ethiopia to Khartoum.

Douglas H. Johnson

He was a resource person in the 2003 Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement negotiations over the Three Areas (Abyei, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile) and later a member of the Abyei Boundary Commission.

Maban County

They are largely occupied by people fleeing armed conflict in Sudan's Blue Nile and South Kordofan states.

Beckingham has produced evidence showing that the Ethiopian Emperor fled far to the south, over the Abay River into Gojjam, then back over the Abay to eventually reach Gindabret, "lying south of the most southerly reaches of the Blue Nile", sometime after 26 May.

Harwood's Francolin

This francolin is endemic to Ethiopia, having a range restricted to the Ethiopian highlands on either side of the Blue Nile river between Lake Tana and its confluence with the Jamma River, as well as its tributaries between these points.
