The Global Express shares the Canadair / Bombardier Regional Jet's fuselage cross section and is similar in length, but despite the size similarities the two aircraft are very different due to the nature of their roles.
The Raytheon Sentinel is a Bombardier Global Express modified as an airborne battlefield and ground surveillance platform for the Royal Air Force.
This, and other improvements (such as an earlier project in which runway 18/36 was lengthened) have allowed for some larger aircraft to land at Oxford, although Gulfstream V and Global Express jets are the largest to currently operate at the airport on a regular basis.
