Bona Sforza

In 1539 Bona Sforza had presided, reluctantly, over the burning of 80-year old Katarzyna Weiglowa for heresy, but this event ushered in an era of tolerance, and her confessor Francesco Lismanino assisted in the establishment of a Calvinist Academy in Pińczów.

She was also supported by Piotr Kmita Sobieński, Andrew Ladislaus and Piotr Gamrat, taking them to her offices and creating the so-called Triumvirate.

Jan V of Zator

On 18 June 1518 Jan is certified as a guest at the wedding of King Sigismund with Bona Sforza.


Biscione

When the Visconti family died out in the 15th century, the emblem retained its association with the Duchy of Milan and became part of the coats of arms of the House of Sforza; the presence of Biscione in Poland (Sanok) and Belarus (Pruzhany) is due to queen Bona Sforza.

Kraków Old Town

Bona Sforza, the second wife of Sigismund I of Poland, asked Bartolommeo Berrecci, Francisco the Florentian, Giovanni Maria Padovano, Santi Gucci and others to do this task.

Kremenets Castle

Krements Castle came into existence long before princess Bona Sforza, wife of Polish king Sigismund the First.
