Borena Zone, one of the 17 zones of the Oromia Region of Ethiopia
The Borena Zone was created shortly after the adoption of the new constitution in 1995 and the creation of the Oromia Region.
Around 2,370 households came to settle themselves in four camps around this town: one of the camps include people from the Bale Zone in Oromia, while three housed people claiming to come from Liben woreda in Borena Zone in Oromia.
SOS Sahel Ethiopia also provides emergency assistance when humanitarian crises occur, such as in the Borena Zone of Ethiopia in 2010, when a severe drought threatened the lives of local pastoralists and their cattle.
